PhilaLandmarks Early Music Series: Kleine Kammermusik Plays Kleine Kammermusik

Our group takes its name from a set of pieces Georg Philipp Telemann dedicated to four oboists of the Dresden court ensemble known as the Kleine Kammermusik or A Little Chamber Music. We’ve built our program around these charming pieces, and have crafted our own suite incorporating some of our favorite solo works by Telemann. Lush chamber music by Handel and Johann Friedrich Fasch with a virtuosic bassoon part to feature our guest Ben Matus will complement our program celebrating the richness of German baroque music. In case you are wondering why we have included Califano in the mix, he was a cellist and composer who worked at the Dresden court. (And listen out for a surprise or two in our duets for paired trebles and basses!) We will be playing in the garden of Philadelphia’s historic Powel House, a perfect setting to experience chamber music of this time.
